Meet the CAPTAINS

Why not fish with two guides who still truly love what they do!

We are Captain Joseph " Kiwi " Hughes and Captain Paul Hunt.  We are conveniently located in Islamorada, Florida.  Islamorada is the "Sport Fishing Capitol of the World".  Combined we have well over 40 years of experience fishing and guiding on the waters surrounding the Florida Keys. We are licensed and insured full time fishing guides, this is our passion and profession. Our desire is to provide you with the most professional and enjoyable fishing experience you can have while visiting Islamorada and the Florida Keys.

When choosing a fishing guide, it is important to find a guide who's boat, equipment and experience is appropriate and also suited to the type of fishing that you desire to do. You deserve to get the best for what you have paid.  Our current fleet of boats consists of one 22ft Pathfinder and one 22ft Angler Grande Bay.  These boats can accommodate 1 to 4 adults or a family of 4,and are outfitted with quality light spinning and conventional tackle and also provide a dry comfortable ride to and from the fishing grounds.

If you are a novice or an experienced angler we will work hard to ensure that your Islamorada Backcountry Charter is a successful and enjoyable experience. Whether it's a day of light tackle fishing for redfish and snook in the Everglades backcountry, live bait fishing for some of our world class tarpon or a day on the water fun fishing with the family or a group of friends,we have the boats, equipment, knowledge and patience to make sure you have a great day on the water.

Captain Joseph "Kiwi" Hughes

I was born in New Zealand. I left in 1987 to travel through Europe which most Kiwi's eventually do. I arrived in the Florida Keys in 1989 and I have made it my home. Fishing became my passion & soon turned into my profession which I still enjoy every day.

Captain Paul Hunt

I grew up in south central Pennsylvania and began fishing at a young age.  My lifelong love of fishing led me to the Florida Keys.  In 1991 I made my first trip to Islamorada and fell in love with the beautiful backcountry and became hooked on the fishing that the area is famous for.  In 2001 I made South Florida my home and soon after began guiding here full time. I always work hard to make sure that your charter is an enjoyable time on the water.
